TL;DR: AddressZen has added official address data for Switzerland and Liechtenstein, sourced from Swisstopo, with full support for German, French, Italian, and Romansh, and accurate WGS84 coordinates.

Where AddressZen's New Swiss Data Comes From

We have added address coverage for Switzerland and Liechtenstein, sourced from Swisstopo, Switzerland's Federal Office of Topography. The dataset draws on three official Swisstopo registers: the directory of building addresses, the street directory, and the directory of towns and cities. Together these give a complete, government-verified picture of how addresses are structured across both countries. Details on how to enable this updated dataset are found in the changelog.

Dataset Coverage by the Numbers

The combined dataset spans several million address points. The German-language index alone holds roughly 2.26 million records, with further coverage of around 765,000 in French, 171,000 in Italian, and 60,000 in Romansh. This depth means dense urban centers and smaller communities are both well represented, reducing gaps in validation and search results.

Multi-Language Support Across Switzerland

Switzerland's addressing reflects its linguistic diversity, and our new dataset does too. Records are indexed separately for German, French, Italian, and Romansh, so autocomplete and lookup results are returned in the language that matches the address. Where a locality uses more than one language, a street-name based approach determines the most appropriate index for each record.

Accurate, Ready-to-Use Coordinates

Swisstopo publishes coordinates using the Swiss LV95 reference system. We transform these into standard WGS84 latitude and longitude during processing, so every address returns coordinates that are directly usable in mapping, geocoding, and location-based applications, with no extra conversion work required. For a full field-by-field breakdown of the data, see our Switzerland & Liechtenstein documentation.

Summary

This release brings official, government-sourced address data for Switzerland and Liechtenstein into the AddressZen platform, with full multi-language support and accurate WGS84 coordinates. It is another step in our ongoing work to expand global coverage with authoritative national data sources.
